Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic Healthcare Assistant to join the District Nursing Team in Wareham.

You will be responsible for providing nursing care to people, in their homes. The role of the Healthcare Assistant is a vital and fulfilling role supporting the care provided by the District and Community Nurse team. This can be long term condition management, acute, and end of life care.

Colleagues work closely with members of the wider multi-disciplinary teams including the Community Rehab Team, local Hospices, , Health and Social Care Co-ordinators, Community Support Workers, Specialist Nurses, GP Surgeries, Social Care colleagues, care homes, and care agencies.

This post is 30 hours per week, you may also be expected to work some weekends and bank holidays.

Main duties of the job

Clinical skills required for this post include providing supportive visits, venepuncture, skin care, routine injections, re-catheterisation and undertake advanced wound care. The successful candidate for this post would not need to have all of the skills straight away and will be fully supported to learn and gain these skills, if they don't have them already, through Dorset Healthcare extended skills programme.
