We have an exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Ward Sister, to come and join our senior team on Radipole ward. This post is to work alongside the Senior Sister to lead the nursing team, and care for our predominantly older patients.

Radipole Ward is a 33 bedded unit located in the heart of Weymouth . We provide care to patients who require rehabilitation, end of life care, or further assessment. The team have impeccably high standards and we are immensely proud of the service we provide. As such we are looking for a professional, enthusiastic, motivated individual who is keen to work alongside the team to keep standards high, and drive services forward in innovative ways.

Main duties of the job

There is more to working in our community hospital than meets the eye! The nursing care we provide is at the forefront of modern clinical nursing and providing excellent healthcare closer to home.

There are plenty of opportunities to retain or upskill your acute clinical experience, focused on acute admission avoidance we look after a range of patients with complex needs and discharge plans.

To provide a high-quality person-centred approach to care delivery which always considers patient's safety, privacy and dignity

To manage and clinically lead the ward team with the Senior Sister, and to maintain continuity in his/her absence

To facilitate effective working within the team and ensure effective collaborative and multidisciplinary working

To manage health roster, Audits, Appraisals, Clinical supervisions, respond to Ulysses, Inspiring and Developing ward staff, Service Improvement

  • Registered practitioner to degree / diploma level supplemented by diploma level specialist training and / or short courses or demonstrable extensive experience in the relevant specialty
  • Membership of the relevant Professional Body
  • Learning and Assessing in Practice Qualification or equivalent practice assessors training
  • Evidence of recent professional development in an up to date portfolio
  • Knowledge and understanding of Trust Strategy relevant to role
