Job summary

A one-year contract post in the Older Peoples' Psychology department has become available in the lovely Bridport area of Dorset. This is an area of outstanding natural beauty along the Jurassic Coast. It has become known more recently as the location for the Broadchurch television series. Bridport is a vibrant town popular for its markets, art and music scenes.

Whilst this is a one-year fixed term contract post, it is highly probable that this will become a permanent post. Although this is a band 8 post, band 7s are encouraged to apply. We welcome applications from clinical and counselling psychologists.

As part of the Pan Dorset Older Peoples' Psychology Service, you will work with other friendly, dedicated and forward-thinking psychologists to provide specialist psychological services for older people under the care of OPCMHTs in both West Dorset and East Dorset.

In addition to psychological assessment and therapy, the provision of consultation, staff training and supervision for multi-disciplinary colleagues are highly valued aspects of psychological input in older peoples' services.

The Trust is committed to the development of its staff and provides training opportunities to further develop skills and to support research initiatives. You will receive regular clinical supervision from experienced colleagues in the Older Peoples' Clinical Psychology Service.

Main duties of the job

Flexible working is common in our staff group and the hours for this post are negotiable.

Please see the attached Band 8a Job Description and Person Specification to see whether you meet the requirements for this role.

We would also welcome applications from candidates who meet the criteria for a Band 7 clinical/counselling psychologist or psychotherapist, as we are able to provide a comprehensive and supported Preceptorship Programme for this role. Following successful completion of training and after gaining experience in the role, the successful applicant would move up to the Band 8a position.

Please see the attached Band 7 Job Description and Person Specification to see whether you meet the requirements for this role.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset we also offer a generous relocation package of up to £10 000. For further details on relocation expenses please emaildhc.careers@nhs.net

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of. Applicants who subscribe to the DBS update service are able to present a valid DBS certificate instead of requiring a new check.

( We welcome informal enquiries to discuss your availability and informal visits could be arranged. Please contact Laura Bassett on 01305 361700.)
