The North Dorset Community Learning Disability team, based in Sturminster Newton has the following vacancy;

Are you an enthusiastic, forward thinking Occupational Therapist looking to develop their skills within the Learning Disability service? The Learning Disability Service in Dorset is staffed by a passionate and dedicated team and we are looking for a like-minded Occupational Therapist to join us.

This is an excellent opportunity to practice Occupational Therapy within the challenging and rewarding field of community learning disability.

Working full time the successful candidate will be able to demonstrate their commitment to work proactively and in partnership with people with learning disabilities, their families and carers and support them to live successfully in the community.

The post will require working within the office environment, home working as well as face to face patient visits in the community.

Main duties of the job

You will be working as part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team in North Dorset with close links and support from the other community learning disability teams in Dorset.

Working in a Learning Disability service will give an occupational therapist an opportunity to facilitate the development of the full range of function (physical, cognitive, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) in the occupational areas of productivity, self care and leisure for person LD who have been referred to occupational therapy for assessment and treatment.

You will also be able to provide individual and group interventions and therapy that facilitate the development of the full range of function (physical, cognitive, interpersonal, and intrapersonal) in the occupational areas of productivity, self care and leisure for person LD who have been referred to occupational therapy.

This is an exciting post which will give you experience in working within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team. Every day is a new challenge with the unexpected a part of daily life.
