Job summary

Dorset Healthcare are looking for a full time enthusiastic podiatrist to join the Community Podiatry Team based in West Dorset as a B6 senior community podiatrist.

The team in West Dorset provides a range of podiatry services. The main bulk of our work focuses on routine and ulcer care for the patients with high risk feet including patients with diabetes, rheumatoid conditions and other complex health backgrounds.

This role will be mainly based in the Dorchester area, however travel to nearby areas such as Bridport and Weymouth & Portland will be needed.

Whilst the role would be ideally full time, consideration will be given to applicants wanting to work 0.6 or 0.8 WTE.

If you are interested in moving to Dorset we also offer a generous relocation package of up to £10,000. For further details on relocation expenses please email dhc.careers@nhs.net

Main duties of the job

An enthusiasm for wound care is essential for this post. Currently MSK services provided by the team are currently limited but following a change of pathways is likely to increase so an interest in MSK would be useful.

As a rural area, with a high number of elderly patients, clinics are spread out and the team also provides a limited number of home visits to housebound patients so an ability and willingness to drive in a rural location is essential.

Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills will be also key skills we will be looking for as well as an enthusiasm for improving patient care.

Due to our rural location, the ability to liaise effectively with patients, other podiatry colleagues and the wider members of the healthcare team such GPs, district nurses, MDTs to ensure timely delivery of care and treatment will be important

To provide a high quality person centred approach to care delivery which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

To provide specialist care and interventions, assessments, treatments and managing patients on a caseload, as part of the wider multi-disciplinary care team.

To provide specialist advice to others regarding the management and care of patients / service users.

To devise specialist programmes of care for other professionals to deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately.
