Job summary

We are looking for an exceptional Deputy Chief Medical Officer to play a lead role in developing our culture which encourages innovation and learning at all levels, supporting and delivering the Trust's objectives. You will provide senior professional and clinical leadership as part of the Medical Leadership Team.

We are at an exciting phase in our organisation's planned transformation, and we want you to be part of the senior leadership team that shapes and implements our Trust's clinical strategy and vision, in this Deputy Chief Medical Officer role.

This is a 2.5 days per week (5PA) position with a requirement for the post holder to additionally hold a Clinical role within Dorset HealthCare (as a Consultant Psychiatrist). The successful candidate will be expected to spend some time at Trust Headquarters in Poole to support teams and services, with opportunities to work from home or other locations as required.

Main duties of the job

A values-driven and collaborative leader, you'll work alongside the Deputy Chief Medical Officer for Community and Physical Healthcare services, and closely with the Deputy Chief Nursing Officer, Service Directors and Clinical Directors to clinically lead service improvement withinMental Health and Learning Disability Servicesand as part of Trust-wide transformation.

You will provide senior professional leadership within the medical directorate and senior clinical leadership for a portfolio of clinical services and ensure effective management and support for clinical staff, deputising for the Chief Medical Officer on occasion.

You will also enjoy system and partnership working across the Dorset Integrated Care System and have a significant role in developing system-wide initiatives with all our partners.

This post is one of two Deputy Chief Medical Officer positions, both of whom are part of the Medical Leadership Team at Dorset HealthCare, having management and leadership responsibilities for all Trust services.
