Job summary

This post is an exciting opportunity for a Locum Appointment For Service- Trust Grade Specialty Registrar in Psychiatry at ST4-6 level, to work within General Adult Psychiatry / Community Mental Health for the Trust.

The post base will be at Poole Central CMHT, Alderney Hospital, Poole. The post-holder will be working within the Community Mental Health Team at Dorset HealthCare University NHS Foundation Trust. Main duties of the job

The post is being advertised as a Trust Grade Specialty Psychiatry Doctor (ST4-6 Level) working 10PA per week with part time hours also considered, for 6 months up to August 2023. To join a well-established and supportive team providing assessment and ongoing care for service users.

The post holder will be expected to provide assessment and ongoing care for service users, along with advice and guidance to local GPs and clinical input to the multi-professional team.

The post holder will be supported by a well staffed team as detailed on the job description.

The post holder will be expected to work with the community team to cover emergency work and to keep waiting lists within Trust agreed waiting times, which are currently four weeks for routine referrals.

The CMHT has a duty system which involves non-medical staff. The post holder will be expected to support the duty worker and carry out urgent assessments when needed, including Mental Health Act assessments.

The post holder may participate in the middle grade on call rota in the east of the county, which attracts the appropriate on call availability allowance and a payment for average hours for work undertaken whilst on call, reporting to the consultant and supported by a core trainee.

The post-holder will be expected to maintain Section 12 (2). The post-holder will undertake Mental Health Act work during working hours and when on call. The post-holder will also be expected to comply with continuing professional development and revalidation requirements set by the GMC or the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

  • MBBS or equivalent medical qualification
  • Licence to practice

  • Evidence of CT/ST3 competences in Psychiatry by time of appointment, supported by evidence from work-based assessments of clinical performance (DOPS, Mini-CEX, CBD, ACAT) and Multisource Feedback or equivalent
  • MRCPsych examination a specialist qualification in psychiatry from an EU country that complies with the requirements of EU directive 2005/36/EC
  • Section 12 approval

  • Experience of working in the NHS
  • At least 36 months' experience in psychiatry (not including Foundation modules) by time of appointment or 36 months' training in psychiatry posts in an EU country, supported by evidence of compliance with the requirements of EU directive 2005/36/EC issued by a competent authority in that EU member state
