Job summary

Are you an established Senior Data Engineer who has worked as part of a delivery team looking to work from home and further develop in an outstanding rated Trust? Our development team are looking for an experienced Data Engineer to join them.

As a Senior Data Engineer you will play a key role in developing and maintaining the Trusts data pipelines and data warehouse in line with the business intelligence strategy. You will be responsible for mapping system requirements, and translating these into technical specifications, designing data models and delivering these using an Agile project management methodology.

You will have a full logical, problem-solving mindset and be familiar with on premise server infrastructure as well as awareness of Cloud computing techniques and technologies. The Data Engineer post is a full time, 18-month fixed term position. We would be flexible and welcome part time applications with a minimum of 30 hours. This is a working from home role where we would support national applications.

Using the Microsoft technologies, you will be required to work both independently, and within a team to deliver various project solutions of various sizes and complexities within the envelope of sprints.

Main duties of the job

You will be joining a small development team who together deliver the Trusts data warehouse solution and BI Reporting platform. This is used widely across the Trust to enable data driven decision making from Board level to operational user. As a Senior Data Engineer you will be responsible for running a small project team to deliver set projects.

Design, develop and maintain efficient extract, transform and load pipelines from source systems to the data warehouse.

Form part of the team responsible for the ongoing maintenance and monitoring of the data warehouse ensuring high availability for end users and analysts. Provide technical solutions and data models to enhance the Trusts Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence solutions. Development of statutory returns, standard and bespoke reports utilising data warehouse and data feeds.

Maintain technical, professional and specialist knowledge and understanding -and be competent in the use of a wide range of specialist software packages and programming languages including but not limited to Microsoft SQL Server, T-SQL, SQL Server Integration Services, Azure, Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, Azure Synapse, Python and Microsoft Power BI.

Ensure data security, data quality, integrity and compliance are considered at all times, implement high quality solutions which meet project success criteria and support requirements.
