Job summary

Are you a Registered Healthcare Professional seeking to further your career in a wide range of county wide community services including AHP and Nursing specialties? We are looking for a strong leader to support the development of our community-based Diabetes and Podiatry services.

You will join us at an exciting time as we review our working relationship with secondary care-based Diabetes services to improve collaboration and develop pathways, encouraging people with Diabetes to manage their care and live well with this long-term condition.You will provide management and leadership to services focusing on service improvement, pathway development, transformation with partner providers, staff wellbeing, recruitment, retention, skill mix and staff development.

As the Service Manager, you will sit within the Specialist Services portfolio which includes AHP as well as Nursing specialities. Our Podiatry services include acute and community-based diabetes clinics, MSK/biomechanics clinics, nail surgery. Our Diabetes service includes Type 2 Education programmes, Diabetes Specialist Dietitians and Specialist Nursing teams.

This post is a full-time position, we would support a hybrid approach with opportunities to work flexibly and include for working from home. Due to the post being county wide a presence may be needed across sites. A job share may be considered but the post holder must be prepared to support the entire service portfolio alongside a job share partner.

Main duties of the job

Accountable for ensuring the delivery of high quality person centred services with a focus on integrated care which always considers people's safety, privacy and dignity.

Budget management. Delivery of safe and effective services that meet CQC and other mandated requirements.

Manages and provides leadership to clinical managers, specialist practitioners and other staff in the multi-disciplinary team.

To act as a champion for clinical standards and for continuous improvement in the service user experience, providing assurance that standards meet all contractual requirements.

To ensure the delivery of up to date evidence based practice.

To lead as a driver for change, contributing to the planning and design of services in line with Trust, locality and government objectives to meet the needs of local people.

The post holder will be clinically accountable for the direct delivery of a clinical service or services within a directorate team and will draw on the clinical experience of earlier career roles in assisting others in their delivery of direct patient care.

The post holder will recognise that all roles should work toward the improvement of patient care regardless of their direct contact. In this role, such contact will naturally be limited but will draw on the experience of earlier career roles in assisting others with patient and client care, some times in the context of resolving complaints and concerns.

  • Relevant full Masters degree or demonstrable extensive equivalent experience in the relevant specialty (Diabetes/Podiatry).

Knowledge/skills

  • Experience of developing service related plans and strategies and joint working with colleagues in a matrix involvement approach.
