Job summary
The Mental Health Support Team in Schools is part of the Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) within Dorset Healthcare and you would be joining a team of committed, creative, enthusiastic professionals from a range of backgrounds and with a wealth of experience.
You will be working within education settings offering counselling intervention to children and young people presenting with mild to moderate mental and emotional health needs.
You will also work alongside colleagues both within the team, and within educational settings, to promote whole school approaches to good emotional wellbeing, which may involve small or large group interventions, staff training and work with parents, carers and families.
Main duties of the job
We are looking for qualified counsellors who are able to engage with a range of children and young people, their families and carers, in educational settings, and who have experience of delivering counselling interventions with children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties.
You must be able to work independently but also part of a team, and be prepared to contribute and lead whole school approach interventions to a wide spectrum of audiences, from small groups, to whole school assemblies.
You will be expected to attend regular team meetings and whole service events and your role will require you to have a full driving licence and the use of a car as you will be expected to travel to see children and young people across the whole area
