Job summary

We have a great opportunity for a Clinical Psychologist to work across 2 of our C-CAMHS Clinics to provide a specialist assessment & therapy service for children in care and care experienced young people. The post holder will also have flexibility to focus on out of area CiC and edge of care referrals coming into the clinics.

The successful candidate will work closely with Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council's CiC Social Work Teams, placement providers, carers and virtual school, to provide a specialist service. They will work with other key health professionals and be supported by the Specialist CAMHS Care, Adoption and Permanence Service ( a team of psychologists) . This full-time, permanent post will be located at Shelley Clinic (Bournemouth) for 3 days a week and 2 days in our Poole Clinic. There are opportunities for working in children's social care sites and family hubs. The post holder will contribute towards bringing an attachment and trauma informed approach to care planning and best outcomes for our children in care.

Main duties of the job

You will be working directly with young people and their carers providing a range of assessments and therapeutic work, mainly focused on attachment and trauma informed interventions. You will also provide consultations, supervision, and training to the clinical teams and BCP Council's Social Care Teams. The post holder will have trainees from Southampton University. They will also be expected to contribute to service development and improving the lives of our children in care.

The post holder will work autonomously, focusing on assessment to develop formulations and working with the team around the child to develop shared understanding and approaches.

Supervision from a Clinical Lead Psychologist will be provided and training will be arranged where needed.
