Job summary
The Dorset All Age Community Eating disorders service has an exciting opportunity for experienced Mental Health Practitioner to join our team as a Duty Practitioner. The role of duty is to be responsive to the needs of our referred young people, adults and their families when their Care Coordinators are not available.
This role will also involve screening of referrals and undertaking some urgent assessments which will include safety planning. In addition to this the duty worker will offer advice and guidance to partner agencies as needed.You will work closely with the wider team providing excellent quality of care ensuring high standards of clinical practice.
The Band 6 Duty Practitioner role is community based. You will have the option of being based at Trinity Court in Dorchester or at Pine Cottage, St Ann's, Poole. Those based at Pine Cottage are due to temporarily relocate to Kings Park Hospital in Aug 23, returning to the St Ann's site in 2026.
You will be joining the team offering evidenced based interventions, ensuring the highest standards of care for people of all ages with an eating disorder, their family/carers. The post holder will hold their own caseload and work closely with all other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job
To work as part of the Multidisciplinary Dorset All Age Community Eating Disorders Service
To manage referral screening, assessment of patients and respond to duty calls
To provide specialist care and interventions, assessments, treatments and managing patients on a team caseload, as part of the wider multi- disciplinary care team.
To devise specialist programmes of care for other professionals to deliver and ensure they are delivered appropriately.
To provide advice to patients/ service users and carers regarding their care.
To plan, implement and review health improvement programmes in a range of settings.
