Job summary

Reporting to the Service Design Manager, the post holder will lead a dynamic team developing designs based on evidence of user needs in support of better organisational and patient outcomes. To work within IM&T and be responsible for engaging in service design across the Trust's services and with partners asneeded.

As the Manager of the Service Design Team, you will be expected to inspire and motivate your staff utilising excellent leadership and communication skills.

Provide visibility of the work of the team to the organisation, working in an open and transparent way, creating a culture of sharing and reflective learning ensuring continuous improvement ensuring that the service design team members are continually developing their analytical skills.

Main duties of the job

Responsible for developing and delivering service design work through the entire design process: conducting user research, problem definition, business analysis, idea generation, prototyping, testing and co-designing the 'to be' customer journey. To proactively shift the organisation to working in a multidisciplinary way, establishing and leading multidisciplinary teams for design work, identifying the right resources at the right time to be part of the team, improving quality and timeliness of outcomes.

You have experience in agile methodology and can apply an agile mindset to all aspects of your work. You can work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery. Ensuring all work throughout the Service Design Team is managed against organisational priority and aligned to the strategic objectives of the Trust.

You will be expected to implement a standardised approach to produce various service design documents supporting governance and engagement activities, ensuring it is user centred and uses different tools and techniques. Accountable for all service design communications and to effectively communicate the skill of service design to colleagues that have little knowledge or experience of it championing user research to focus on all users, acting as an ambassador for design, digital and the wider IM&T Department.
