Job summary

The Bridport Community Mental Health Team are seeking to recruit a registered Mental Health Practitioner to join our small, well-established and highly skilled team. We are looking for an innovative, creative, motivated, and caring professional who has experience working with people suffering Serious Mental Illness (SMI) whether that be in an inpatient setting or in the community.

The primary role will be to act as Care Coordinator for a dedicated caseload of patients with whom you would provide person centred, evidence-based, targeted interventions to aid the clients' recovery.

There will be opportunities for you to advance you own clinical assessment skills whilst risk assessment will remain at the forefront of everything you do. Alongside your caseload work, you will be rota'd to cover our Duty and Assessment slots.

You will have a working knowledge of current biopsycho-social models of care and understand how to implement such interventions with your patients to promote optimum health and wellbeing.

You will work closely within our Integrated Multi Disciplinary Team that consists of Consultant Psychiatrists, Mental Health Nurses, an Occupational Therapist, Social Workers, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner, Support Time Recovery Workers, a Physical Health Worker and our Psychology Team. There will be a good deal of inter agency work with multiple professionals across a wide range of services.

Main duties of the job

We believe in working collaboratively and supporting one another in what can be a challenging role.

You will be provided with regular clinical and peer supervision and we will support you in your career development. There will be support for someone wanting to develop their skills in evidence-based therapeutic interventions in the psychological therapies as well as advanced nursing. We would welcome applicants who have newly qualified as a registered professional and require preceptorship and a clear development plan for their first post. The team is based at Bridport Community Hospital and covers the Bridport, Lyme Regis and surrounding areas. This well know Jurassic Coast is a most desirable location in an area of outstanding natural beauty (AONB). Due to its rural patch, you will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as you will be required to review and monitor patients in their own homesand within other community settings.

We would encourage you to contact us to arrange an informal visit, come and meet the team and ask us any questions about the role or living in area.

This post has become available at a very exciting time. Significant investment has been made available to review and reconfigure community mental health services and this is taking place right now via the Mental Health Integrated Community Care Project (MHICC). Within this post you will have the opportunity to participate in the project shaping our future services.
