Job summary

We have an exciting opportunity for Clinical Psychologists to join our enthusiastic and skilled team.

We have 2 posts, one (up to 1.0wte) based in East Dorset, and one (0.5wte) based in West Dorset. The applicants will work closely with multi-disciplinary community learning disability teams in each area.

We provide excellent clinical supervision, support, and opportunities to develop skills and professional development.

We believe that every one of our team members has a crucial part to play in the services that we provide.

We would also welcome applications from candidates who meet the criteria for a Band 7 Clinical Psychologist as we will be able to provide a comprehensive and supported Preceptorship Programme for this role. Following successful completion of training and after gaining experience in the role, the successful applicant would move up to the Band 8A position.

Main duties of the job

You will be providing psychological assessment, formulation and treatment to adults with learning disabilities who have a range of psychological conditions. Our team of psychologists has a number of therapy specialties including: - EMDR - CAT - DBT- ACT- CBT We are involved in a range of exciting initiatives including developing the dementia pathway, development of therapy packs, training to IAPT, capacity assessments, and much more.

Knowledge, skills and training

Essential

  • Post-graduate doctorate in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS or HCPC.
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, including complex multivariate data analysis as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
  • Experience of clinical supervision for trainee and assistant clinical psychologists
  • Knowledge of legislation, white papers, etc. and implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to older adults and adults with Learning Disabilities
  • Membership of HCPC

Job Specific Experience

Essential

  • Clinical experience with adults with Learning Disability diagnosis, particularly those in community placements.
  • Experience of Assessment and Formulation in Adults with an LD
  • Experience and formal training in at least 2 psychological therapies
  • Experience in completing specialist assessments such as capacity assessment, dementia assessment, etc
  • Competent knowledge of neuropsychological testing
