Job summary

Intellectual Disabilities CAMHS Team Leader Band 7 Full time (37.5hrs) per week, permanent post.

If you are passionate about supporting children and young people with Intellectual disabilities and complex behaviours/mental health needs and would like to be involved in providing and developing the care they receive, then we would like to hear from you.

We are a specialist multidisciplinary Intellectual Disability Service and consist of Nurses, Occupational Therapists, Speech and Language Therapist, Psychologists, Psychiatrist and Support Workers. We work closely with families, special schools and respite units to help improve the quality of life for children and their families

Main duties of the job

  1. To work with the Clinical Lead and Operational Manager to provide leadership in ensuring high quality, evidence-based interventions, working in partnership with the individual, their family, colleagues within the Trust and external agencies as required.
  2. To work with the Clinical Lead and Operational Manager to clinically develop the Team to provide services that are accessible and responsive to needs.
  3. To promote participation of service users and carers in their own care and in the planning and development of services.
  4. To be the Primary Clinician responsible for screening referrals for The Swifts Service, providing emergency and routine assessments as required

Knowledge skills and training

Essential

  • RNLD / Registered Mental Health Nurse with current NMC registration, OR core professional qualification (Social work, Occupational Therapy) OR equivalent
  • Evidence of further degree level or equivalent training or knowledge pertinent to CAMHS/LD
  • Clinical Supervisor Training
  • Extensive experience of at least 3 years at Band 6 (or equivalent) working with young people their families and carers.
  • Experience working with patients in crisis.
  • Experience of assessing, planning an implementing programmes of care, for young people
  • Evidence of effective leadership and service development
  • Ability to undertake comprehensive risk assessment and implement risk management plans.
  • Evidence of effective interpersonal skills (active listening, building empathy).
  • Demonstrate the ability to receive and give complex clinical details clearly with young people, carers and colleagues.
  • Experience of contributing towards policy and service development
  • Demonstrates ability to communicate effectively with all staff to ensure programmes of care are implemented.
