Job summary
We are looking to appoint a passionate and skilled podiatrist as a Band 7 Team Lead / Diabetes Podiatrist. This position would be suitable for an experienced podiatrist, who is looking to develop their career whilst living and working in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
We are an innovative and friendly team which looks to continually improve the specialist foot and lower limb service for patients in the local area. You will be based in the Royal Bournemouth and Poole Hospitals, but will link with the wider Community Podiatry Service within Dorset using your clinical expertise to advise and support staff.
Dorset HealthCare provides the community podiatry service including high risk and ulcerated community diabetes foot care services; rheumatology, MSK, nail surgery and biomechanics clinics. It is essential that you are HCPC registered, are able to work flexibly and are a car driver with access to a car for work purposes.
If you are looking for a lifestyle change, walking along the beach after work is truly a reality. We have 7 miles of sandy beaches stretching from Christchurch to Sandbanks in Poole, and further west, the famous Jurassic coastline., The New Forest is also on our doorstep, and London is less than 2 hours away by road or rail.
Main duties of the job
You will be joining the specialist hospital based diabetes podiatry team, which forms part of the multidisciplinary Diabetes Foot Team within University Hospitals Dorset. In Dorset we now have two Consultant Podiatrists (Diabetes and Diabetes In-patient) and one Consultant Podiatric Surgeon, demonstrating that we are one of the most progressive services in the country. You should be able to demonstrate working at Masters level 7 and ideally you will be a podiatry independent prescriber. If you are not yet a prescriber, you will be supported to study for this qualification. Experience of managing a team is important, but you will be supported to further develop your leadership skills.
The successful candidate must have excellent communication and interpersonal skills both with podiatry colleagues, patients and the wider members of the healthcare teams with whom we work. You must be willing to work on your own as well as part of a team and we would be looking for a real enthusiasm for service development and improvement. You will be confident in using your initiative, with a real 'can do' attitude.
Your career is our business, and we will support you in your ongoing clinical and leadership development. In return, we are looking for an exceptional podiatrist who is passionate about improving care and outcomes for our high risk patients.
