Job summary

We are proud our Trust in conjunction with our local Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group have completed a review of our Rehabilitation and Assertive Outreach Services (AOT) in Dorset and secured significant additional funding to redevelop and expand the range of clinical services provided.

We are seeking to recruit aClinical Psychologist to join theWest Dorset Assertive Outreach Team,based in Weymouth.

We are looking for an individual who is reliable, committed and dedicated with excellent communication and organisational skills, and the ability to prioritise their work. The AOT team has experience of working closely with psychology and greatly values the contribution psychology has made to the team. Line managed by psychologist. We offer excellent development opportunities, including further therapy training, support and supervision.

This is a part-time, permanent position working 15 hours per week, Monday to Friday. If applicants were interested in combining an AOT post with another clinical psychology role (such as Rehabilitation community or inpatient) in West Dorset, do get in contact we would be keen to hear from you.

Main duties of the job

This post is based with Assertive Outreach Team West (AOT) Weymouth.

Assertive Outreach services are provided for people with a primary diagnosis of serious mental disorder often co-existing with substance misuse. It is for those patients who are difficult to engage, have frequently failed with routine treatment programmes, exhibit poor social functioning, are often excluded from many aspects of daily life and are deemed to be a risk to the local community, themselves, carers, families or significant others.

The post holder will be required to manage their time effectively to enable them to provide psychological services across the team. This will include provision of highly specialist psychological assessments and interventions for very complex patients; and teaching, training, supervision and consultation to the wider team asappropriate.

You will need to have a valid driving licence and use of a car as they will be required to assess and monitor patients in their own homes and within other community settings.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND TRAINING

Essential

  • Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology or equivalent.
  • Professional Registration with HCPC.
  • Clinical supervision training.
  • Relevant specialist training or qualifications (e.g. CBT; CAT; DBT; ACT; MI or schema therapy).
  • Doctoral level knowledge of research design and methodology, as practiced within the field of clinical psychology
  • Knowledge of legislation, white papers, etc. and implications for both clinical practice and professional management in relation to adults with Mental and physical Illness/Disorder

JOB SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant experience of working as a qualified clinical or counselling psychologist and relevant experience for transition to highly specialist post (8A).
  • A clear understanding of the role and function of assertive outreach services.
  • Clinical experience across the lifespan with mental and physical illness, particularly individuals with severe mental illness, psychosis and addiction.
  • Ability to use a range of highly complex assessment materials (including psychometric tests).
  • Experience of teaching, consultation and supervising psychology staff and other professionals.
  • Experience of working in multidisciplinary team settings.

Desirable

  • Experience of research and development work in a specialist area.
  • Experience of neuropsychological assessment and rehabilitation.
  • Experience of specialist risk assessment (e.g. HCR-20).
