Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, motivated and inspiring clinician to lead this busy and skilled Older People's Organic Mental Health Ward located at Alderney Hospital, Poole, Dorset.
Herm Ward is a female ward with 23 beds, providing a high quality of care and treatment for patients who need assessment and treatment for the behavioural, psychological and physical symptoms related to dementia. The ward team are highly motivated and experienced in providing a person centred approach with an emphasis on therapeutic stimulation and diverse interventions.
Main duties of the job
As Ward Manager, you will have responsibility for the provision and management of high quality nursing care, using evidence based treatment plans for patients, in conjunction with other professions through the agreed multi-disciplinary assessment and treatment/care plans.
The successful candidate will possess demonstrable strong clinical leadership skills , experience of working in Older People's Mental Health and be able to demonstrate a supportive and empathetic approach to patients and carers. They will have excellent communication and organisational skills, be able to influence at senior level and have hands-on experience of working with challenging behaviours and a wide range of mental health and physical health problems.
We would also like you to be committed in the pursuit of excellence and promoting a high quality of care and the delivery of key local and national outcomes. You will be supported in your role by the Acute Inpatient Service Manager for Older People's Mental Health and the Head of High Acuity Mental Health Services.
You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.About us
