Job summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Team Leader to join the Christchurch & Southbourne Community Mental Health Team based in Christchurch, near the general hospital, and benefits from good public transportation links as the train station is within walking distance. This post offers a unique opportunity for aspiring and developing Band 6 staff or existing Band 7 Leaders looking for a new challenge.

You will have oversight of the involvement of a range of RMHN's, Social Workers/Care Manager, Psychologist, Non-Medical Prescribers, Psychiatrists , Support Time Recovery Workers, Physical health Support Workers and a busy Administrative team.

We are looking for an exceptional person to take on this role and enable the team to further develop their skills, systems and care they offer to the people and carers who the service support. The Christchurch & Southbourne CMHT have experienced a number of changes over recent years and this post requires an innovative and creative Team Leader with a passion for continuing to support and further develop the team.You will need to demonstrate your commitment to providing a visible, consistent, supportive management approach, acting as a positive role model, working with an experienced multi-disciplinary team.

Main duties of the job

As the role is managerial you must be able to make sound clinical judgements, drawing on your previous experiences, whilst working under pressure and have the ability to manage change and have effective time management skills as you may need to flexibly be involved in patient care. The right candidate needs to have a passion for, and experience of, working with working age adults with mental illness.

The right candidate will be responsible for ensuring adherence to all Trust policies in relation to the referral and treatment of patients under the care of this specialist secondary mental health service. You will also be responsible for managing the waiting lists for referrals, and responsible for ensuring that patients are seen within Trust policy timescales.

You will need to be able to build effective relationships with a range of agencies such as the local authority, community teams, primary care networks and third sector providers to provide a seamless service to the people and carers throughout their period of care.

The post holder will benefit from high levels of support from the Integrated Service Manager as well as support from an effective and experienced peer network at both a local and county wide level. You will also work closely to lead the team alongside an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist.

Employment in this post requires an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, which the Trust will cover the cost of.
