You currently must be in the UK and have current experience of working in a UK Healthcare setting as an HCA.
Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will work closely with the Urology consultants, Clinic Nurse Specialists and other Health Care Professionals. You will need good interpersonal skills, enjoy working with the public, have patience and a sympathetic manner, with a flexible approach to work on his/her initiative and as part of a team.
As a Health Care Assistant, you will work under direct or indirect supervision of a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate. You will be primarily assisting the nursing team with care of the patients and will facilitate the smooth running of the department.
As a member of the ward/department team you will always support clinically your registrant colleagues and act in the best interest of patients. With this role we expect that everyone is treated with respect and dignity and values others' beliefs whilst delivering clinical care. This is a clinical front facing role where excellent customer care skills are expected to be delivered to patients, relatives, carers, and colleagues.

Some of the main tasks include:
- To help in the delivery of basic patient care under direct supervision of a trained nurse.
- To develop specific skills as requested by your Charge Nurse and carry them out as per agreed policies and standards.
- To restock equipment, disposables/consumables in preparation for patients.
- To be aware of Moving and Handling procedures
- To report all accidents and serious incidents to the Charge Nurse.
- Be aware of Emergency procedures such as fire, major incident, bomb alert, cardiopulmonary arrest and security.
- To comply with the Unit and Trust policies.
- To respect and maintain the rights, dignity and confidentiality of patients.
- To take reasonable steps to ensure the safekeeping of patients property in accordance with Hospital policy.
- Develop effective channels of communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives
- Provide support to relatives and families of patients with empathy.
- To maintain own development as guided by Charge Nurse and the appraisal process.
- To assist with ordering of supplies and appropriately storing supplies on the unit including Pharmacy orders.
- Assume some of the housekeeper role, particularly those related to direct patient care, e.g. ordering of patients meals, damp dusting in patient areas etc.
- Undertake care and cleaning of any equipment as necessary and as directed by the Charge Nurse.
- Undertake some administration duties as required by the nurse in charge
