Job summary
Frimley Health Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the South. Divided into two main sites, we require a St1-2/FY2/3 level doctor to join us on the Wexham Park Hospital site in the busy ENT department for a year. This is a full-time role with weekend and nights but is fully compliant with the EWTD.
The ENT Department has 4 full-time consultants (+ one locum), covering the whole range of sub-specialty interests. As well as the usual general workload there are specialist otology, rhinology, voice, and head and neck clinics and theatres. The non-consultant staff complement includes 2 specialty doctors, 2 deanery registrars, 2 core surgical trainees and 6 junior grades (a mixture of FY2 and GP VTS trainees where the gap for this fixed term post will reside). The department prides itself on its friendly and inclusive work philosophy, with regular meetings and teaching sessions. While this post is not recognised by the Deanery, it will provide high quality training in ENT, with opportunities to take an active part in monthly audit sessions, teaching and theatre resulting in appropriate career progression. This role should appeal to either a trainee interested in a Surgical and/or ENT career or to a trainee interested in General Practice who would like to develop their skills prior to/after GP training.
Main duties of the job
You will be part of a junior doctor oncall rota (currently 1:6 as above), seeing patients from Accident and Emergency, on wards or direct from GP's. Mainly based in Clinic, you will be supported by middle and senior grades, performing procedures e.g. cautery, Nasendoscopy, aural microscopy etc. Access to theatre is also available if a career in surgery is your ambition.
