Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Band 6 Clinical Nurse Specialist, to join the immunology and allergy service for 12 months to cover maternity leave.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated band 6 Nurse - previous experience in the specialty preferred but not essential as we will provide appropriate specialist training. This post would be suitable as a secondment for someone wishing to gain experience in the specialty of immunology and allergy as well.
The Clinical Immunology and Allergy Service provides specialist immunology and allergy care for Frimley Health and further afield. The team is based at Frimley Park Hospital delivering outpatient and day case care.
Main duties of the job
- Deliver nurse-led services and provide nursing support within the specialty of immunodeficiency and allergy
- Contribute to the further development of immunodeficiency and allergy services in the Trust
- Must be accountable for their own professional actions, not directly supervised
- Act as highly specialist resource of knowledge providing relevant education and training to patients, other staff and learners linking in with the service
- Undertake clinical audit and research within the specialty

Job responsibilities
To deliver all nursing aspects of the immunodeficiency service together with the other members of the specialist nursing team. This includes:
- Provision of the home therapy programme for immunodeficiency patients
- Training patients to self administer intravenous and subcutaneous immunoglobulin, and other immunological medications
- To be a point of contact for immunodeficiency patients for assessment, provision of general advice and support
- Maintenance of a database of immunodeficiency patients (as part of the requirement for service accreditation
- To provide support for nurses on the infusion units administering therapy to immunodeficiency patient
- To supervise other nurses performing immunological therapy when necessar

- Intravenous accreditation
- Significant post-registration experience
- Evidence of proactive involvement in the mentorship and development of nurses and nursing practice
