Main duties of the job
Providing cashiering services and the receipting of Trust income, together with a mix of general financial accounting duties.
All of these tasks assist in producing accurate and timely financial reports and information throughout the year, which enable the requirements of the monthly, quarterly and annual financial cycles to be met including the statutory annual accounts.

Job responsibilities
- Responsible for secure handling, recording and banking of the Trusts income from a variety of sources to ensure all financial timetables are met.
- Responsible for accurately receipting income received directly into the Trusts bank accounts.
- Book keeping entries ensuring the integrity of the ledger is maintained.
- Responsibility for producing a section of the control accounts and alerting the Financial and Business Support Accountants to any problems and recommending appropriate remedial action.Ensure daily cash sheets are checked and signed in line with financial procedures.
- Responsible for collecting cash from vending machines and other collection boxes and ensuring this cash is allocated correctly.
- To provide reimbursement for patients travel expenses under the Hospital Travel Costs Scheme as required. Handling queries and disputes in a sensitive manner.
- To analyse and interpret financial reports to identify errors and discrepancies stemming from the receipting of cash.Ensure petty cash reimbursements are authorised in line with financial procedures and with evidence of receipts in accordance with Standing Financial Instructions.
- Responsible for managing petty cash floats including year-end reconciliation and agreements.
- To provide advice to managers and staff in the hospital re the control and handling of patients valuables. Responsible for safe-keeping of patients cash & valuables.
- Liaison with visitors, patients and other departments of the trust in order to investigate and resolve cash office queries in person, by telephone and in writing.
- Fast and accurate input of information to financial systems and spreadsheets requiring keyboard work for much of the day.
- Any other duties as may be required.
