Job summary

Responsible for the assessment of patients' care needs, including the development, implementation, and evaluation of individualised care plans without direct supervision. The role involves supporting and guiding junior members of the Nursing Team, contributing to their performance monitoring, professional development, and education.

The postholder will regularly assume responsibility for managing the clinical area during their shift, ensuring that care is delivered safely, efficiently, and in accordance with best practice and Trust policies.

Main duties of the job

Main Duties

  • Deliver high-quality nursing care to patients in line with professional standards and organizational policies.

  • Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individualized care plans based on patient needs.

  • Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately, monitoring for side effects and effectiveness.

  • Monitor patient health status, recognize changes in condition, and escalate concerns promptly to senior staff or medical teams.

  • Support patients and their families by providing information, education, and emotional support.

  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated and comprehensive patient care.

  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, including electronic health records, ensuring confidentiality and data protection.

  • Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement initiatives, and adherence to infection control practices.

  • Contribute to training and mentoring junior staff and nursing students as required.

  • Comply with all legal, ethical, and professional nursing standards and organizational policies.

  • Promote health education and disease prevention activities within the patient population.

  • Respond appropriately to emergencies and assist in resuscitation efforts when needed.

  • Attend mandatory training and professional development sessions to maintain competencies and registration requirements.
