Job summary
TheBand 7 Arrhythmia Specialist Nurse plays a pivotal role in the delivery, development, and continuous improvement of high-quality arrhythmia care across the patient pathway--from initial presentation in primary care to specialist interventions in tertiary settings. The post holder will work as a key member of the multidisciplinary cardiology team, with a particular focus on improving diagnostic accuracy, expediting treatment timelines, and streamlining referral processes for patients with arrhythmias and acute coronary syndromes (ACS).
As a senior nurse, you will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and evaluating patient-centred services aimed at improving access and outcomes for individuals with complex cardiac rhythm disturbances. A core responsibility will involve leading efforts to enhance clinical pathways that span the full continuum of care, working in collaboration with GPs, acute clinicians, specialist tertiary centres, and community teams to promote a more integrated and efficient approach to arrhythmia management.
Your role will involve active participation in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case conferences, and service planning forums to ensure that arrhythmia care is fully integrated and responsive to the needs of the population served.

Main duties of the job
To provide clinical leadership for a defined group of patients. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating safe and high quality patient care.
As a clinician experienced in caring for patients with Arrhythmia, it is envisaged that the post holder will initially focus on developing robust systems between primary, secondary and tertiary care centres. Areas for development (dependent on existing services/ local service need) may include:
- Assisting to establish and participating in the running of rapid access clinic and clinics where necessary and developing integrated care pathways to aid management- Assisting to establish and participating in the running of clinics dedicated to the management of Arrhythmia- Undertaking other clinic sessions across the network, including running of preadmission clinics for patients undergoing elective procedures, new patient and follow up clinics- Establishing appropriate support services for patients with long-term conditions and ensuring appropriate patient information is available regarding the spectrum of arrhythmia conditions, investigations and treatments
