Job summary

We are seeking dynamic and motivated nurses to become part of a well-established and progressive Ophthalmology team.We are a busy outpatient's department undertaking the assessment and care of Ophthalmic patients, by continually adapting the service to meet and enhance the care we provide to our patients. We are seeking motivated and enthusiastic team players with a flexible approach, excellent communication skills and the ability to show initiative.

The eye treatment centre encompasses the Ophthalmic outpatient department, the Mobile Macular Unit (MMU) and the ETC ward both at Frimley Park Hospital and Heatherwood. The MMU moves weekly between Basingstoke, Farnborough, Aldershot and Camberley and the ETC ward at Heatherwood. The post holder will rotate between all clinical areas within this very busy fast paced speciality working 3-5 shifts a week between 0700-2000 Monday to Friday. Occasional weekend work required

Main duties of the job

  • As an integral member of the Ophthalmic nursing team, the post holder will provide support to other members of the multidisciplinary team in the provision of high quality care
  • Carry out specialised Ophthalmic tests and procedures that contribute to the efficient running of the service
  • Act as a role model, delivering care with empathy and compassion
  • Teach and supervise junior staff, students and unregistered nursing staff
  • Be accountable for care or any omissions of care that you delegate to others
