An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and compassionate Band 6 Junior Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dedicated team within the Coronary Care Unit at Wexham Park Hospital. Our unit works closely with the Cardiac Catheterisation Lab, playing a key role in delivering the Primary Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PPCI) service.
As a Junior Sister/Charge Nurse, you will work in partnership with the Senior Sister and Matron, contributing to service development and leading change in a dynamic and supportive environment. You will be offered a comprehensive orientation programme and ongoing professional development, including access to management and leadership training to support your growth in the role.
Key to your success will be your ability to uphold and promote high standards of clinical care, foster a culture of continuous improvement, and support the development of staff through effective guidance and mentorship. Your clinical expertise and leadership will be essential in maintaining the quality and safety of care delivered to our patients.
Main duties of the job
- The post holder will have managerial responsibility of the Coronary Care Unit and will deputise in the absence of the Senior Sister. He/she will provide professional, clinical and managerial leadership to the staff on the Unit.
- The post holder will have ongoing responsibility for the quality of care, cleanliness, environment and infection, prevention & control within the clinical area and will provide professional advice and support at both Unit and Directorate level.
- To implement the Trusts' Core Values and Philosophy of nursing, ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the customer experience.
- To provide individualised patient care and develop/maintain standards of evidence-based care in nursing practice and policies within the Unit, monitoring progress via the ward/unit Nursing & Midwifery business balanced score card (BSC).
- To manage the work within the clinical area effectively and make the best use of resources; encouraging and leading service development accordingly. To bring in a balanced budget at the end of the financial year.
- To ensure that professional accountability is maintained in line with the Nursing and Midwifery Council Code of Professional Conduct (2002).
