Job summary

Applicants are invited to apply for the role of Research fellow in Frimley Emergency Department. The role is 75% clinical and 25% non-clinical. We are looking for doctors to start August 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for doctors to maintain clinical work but also have time in their schedules dedicated to areas of interest to them. We see this as a way of sustainable working whilst also building on CVs and experience.

Study leave: 18 days (10 days general study leave, 5 days private study leave, 3 days for exams or interviews). Study budget: £650 per year.

The emergency medicine rota will include evening, night, weekend and bank holiday working. LTFT enquiries are welcome.

Applicants must have a minimum of 24 months experience working as a doctor in the NHS. This advert is open to ST1/2 and ST3+ applicants.

Main duties of the job

  • To workwith the ED Consultant lead for Trauma & Nurse Lead onaudit and quality improvement for trauma management in the ED
  • To develop new strategies, policy and management guidelines related to major trauma
  • To analyse data for National Major Trauma Registry and draw out key learning outcomes based on this
  • To continue to deliver and develop MDT trauma training within the emergency department eg. the weekly Tuesday Trauma skills teaching (10@10)
  • To participate in ATLS courses (if appropriate to level of training)
  • To facilitate TILS and Trauma Team Leader courses run by the ED Trauma Team
  • To help organise the annual Frimley Resuscitation conference
  • To co-chair 3 monthly Trauma Mortality & Morbidity meetings and work with the ED Trauma Team to implement identified actions for improvement
  • To aid in disseminating important learning outcomes to ED and external speciality teams
  • To Work with the ED Trauma Team and IT to develop the major traumadocumentation using the new electronic system
  • To work with the other ED fellows to expand your experience and support each other's projects
