Job summary
We are looking for a Locum Interventional Consultant Cardiologist to join the team at Wexham Park Hospital for a period of 12 months. This is a full-time post (10 Programmed Activities).
This Interventional Consultant Cardiologist post will join the existing team of 9 Cardiologists. The Consultant team comprises five Interventionalists, two Electrophysiologists (cross site), two heart failure and device consultants and 3 imaging Consultants delivering all emergency, acute and elective care for inpatients and outpatient.
At Wexham Park Hospital we have 2 state of the art Cardiac Catheter Laboratory suites. According to BCIS data over the last 3 years we perform between 800-1000 PCI's per year (including 200-250 PPCI activation for STEMI). We have full use of adjunctive technology including, IVUS, OCT, Calcium modification (Shockwave and Rotablation) and Coronary Physiology with Coroventis (FFR, RFR). We also run parallel EP lists and will be starting AF ablation in 2025. We have 2 dedicated Cardiac device lists for Brady pacing, ICD implantation and CRT devices.
Main duties of the job
The Interventional Cardiologist will have 1 full Cath lab day per week with 24/7 primary PCI on call commitments of 1 in 5 weekday and 1 in 6 weekend based at Wexham Park Hospital. The post holder will also participate in the Consultant of the week rota in which they will be responsible for daily Consultant led ward rounds of our 14 bedded CCU and in reaching into key areas within the hospital to provide specialist opinions as required. The candidates job plan will consist of 2 general Cardiology clinics (1 face to face clinic and 1 virtual clinic) there will also be 1 sessions of 'Advice & Guidance' and triaging of electronic referrals to work collaboratively with Primary care.

- Possession of CCT of within six months of receipt
- Full GMC registration
- Understanding of the structures of NHS hospitals and willing to play a role in the department and in the hospital

- Angiography, PCI, and primary PCI experience
- ALS
- Willingness to be involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
