Job summary
The Aseptic Services Technician or Operator will primarily co-ordinate and organise technical work in the day to day provision of a high quality aseptic chemotherapy preparation service under the direct supervision of the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Operations Manager and Oncology/Haematology Pharmacists, working under Exemption Under section 10 of the medicines act 1968.
The post holder will be expected to be able to organise the unit's workload ensuring the team carries out tasks allocated for the day, observing all departmental procedures and Good Manufacturing Practice in order to promote the safe, cost effective and timely provision of medicines and information to all service users. They will be expected to carry out compounding, worksheet and label checks and both pre and in process checks once trained/accredited.

We are looking for an experienced, adaptable, hard working and conscientious Technician or Operator who is ready to progress their career, to join our friendly and busy team in the Pharmacy Aseptic Unit, based at Wexham Park Hospital.
Depending on previous experience, the successful candidate will be expected to work towards completing an in-house pre-checking accreditation within three to six months, along with in-house validation to carry out compounding and volume checking of intravenous chemotherapy before progressing to a Band 5 and supervising a small dedicated team. Other tasks will include in and out patient dispensing, training, assembly and sanitising of raw materials in a cleanroom environment, cleaning and monitoring of the cleanrooms, and stock control. The post holder will also participate in writing and reviewing SOPs and other Quality Management work.
Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.
With experience in post qualification working in a hospital environment and recent aseptic experience are required.
The successful candidate will potentially be involved in working in a new aseptic unit on site at Wexham Park .

3. To carry out cleaning of clean room, support areas and equipment following defined standard operating procedures on a daily, weekly, three monthly and annual basis along with other general housekeeping duties required in the chemotherapy unit.
4. To supervise the technical work of other technicians, students and pharmacy assistants in the Pharmacy Aseptic Services Unit (PASU).
