Job summary
Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust has a vacancy for a full-time Consultant Interventional Cardiologist.
The successful candidate will join a team of 9 Cardiologists, with a variety of sub-speciality interests, working at Frimley Park Hospital.
The department includes a Coronary Care Unit, Step Down Cardiology Ward, 2 Catheter Laboratories and Cardiology Investigations Unit. The Cardiology on-call commitment is 1:6 weekend ward cover with a 1:10 commitment to an inpatient 'Consultant of the Week' rota when other duties are reduced.
Applicants should be on the GMC specialist register or be within 6 months (from the date of interview) of their expected CCST date.
Main duties of the job
The basis of the post is 10 programmed activities with a weekly Cardiac MRI list, specialist echo list and 2 clinics. The clinic template is 6 NEW and 2 Follow up patients. Participation in the joint Cardiology-cardiothoracic MDT, running the echo meeting and providing support for echophysiologist queries will be shared with the existing cardiac imaging Consultant. Participation in the weekend non-invasive Cardiology rota occurs on a 1 in 6 basis, and this is recognised as time off in-lieu within the job plan below. There is a 1 in 10 Consultant of the week rota to cover CCU and the Cardiology stepdown ward and inpatient cardiology referrals. Time will be provided for admin, including referral triage and advice and guidance to primary care. Non-clinical responsibilities include active participation in governance and medical audit. SPA time will also be provided for continuing professional development and fulfilling the required commitment for appraisal and revalidation.

- MRCP or equivalent through EEC rules
- Possession of CCT of within six months of receipt
- Full GMC registration
- Understanding of the structures of NHS hospitals and willing to play a role in the department and in the hospital
Desirable
- Higher degree (for example MD or PhD)

- Willingness to be involved in teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate level
