Job summary
This job is for a Consultant Dermatologist. The job is a full time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs).
Main duties of the job
The dermatological work-load involves the treatment of both civilian and military patients. Clinics are held mainly at King Edward VII Hospital but also at Wexham Park Hospital, and Heatherwood Hospital. The main duties of the post constitute general dermatology clinics, outpatient skin surgery, ward referrals and with a view to supporting paediatric dermatology, contact dermatitis and psoriasis. The post holder will be expected to see new patients as well as treating patients from the waiting list. Sessions will be a mixture of fixed and flexible.

A half day per month is dedicated to medical audit and teaching. This is hospital policy and all staff medical, physiotherapists and outpatient staff are expected to attend. There is also a directorate meeting held during this period, in which dermatology is part of an Outpatient Focus Group which reports to the Medical Directorate.
There is a regular Dermatology Departmental Team Meeting, comprising representatives of the nursing staff and managers, pharmacists etc. where all aspects of care for dermatology patients are discussed.
The Skin Cancer Network and MDTs need to be attended.
The Division of Medicine expects CPD to be maintained.
The post does not come with on-call commitments; however advice to wards/ED may be required.

- CCT in Dermatology (or within 6 months of achieving at the time of application) or equivalent
- Wide clinical experience of general management principles in Dermatology
- Computer literate - confident in using MS Office, Email and Internet
- Able to demonstrate innovative thinking
- Able to demonstrate appropriate surgical skills to undertake Minor Operation Lists which include: Excision Biopsies, Incisional Biopsies, Punch Biopsies and Curette
- Experience of teaching medical students and trainees
