Job summary
This job is for a Trust Doctor (ST1 equivalent) to provide care for patients receiving rehabilitation at our intermediate care unit at Heathlands, and receiving support/training from both middle grades and Consultant staff. This is a good post to gain experience in general medicine.
The job is currently Monday to Friday 8.30 to 5pm, however we may look to a 7 day service in the future. The role will be in general and geriatric medicine based at Heathlands.
This is a 12 months fixed term post.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will:
- Provide care of ward patients under the guidance of the senior staff.
- Work as part of the ward multidisciplinary team and actively participate in MDT meetings.
- Be expected to provide teaching to nursing and/or ancillary staff and under graduate students.
- Be expected to participate in audits and research as arranged by the team.
- Perform duties in occasional emergencies and unforeseen circumstances at the request of the appropriate consultant, in consultation where practicable with their colleagues both senior and junior.
- To attend monthly clinical governance meetings.

- MBBS or equivalent
- Satisfactory completion of PRHO/ F1 posts (or equivalent certified evidence of competence) at the time of taking up post
- Examples show applicant understands the principles of clinical governance - ensures patients are not put at risk
- Full GMC Registration
- Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
- Understands the principles of patient confidentiality and data protection
- Understanding of the basic principles of research
Desirable
- MRCP or working towards MRCP
