Job summary

Head Chef (based at Wexham Park Hospital)

We are looking for a Head Chef based at the Wexham Park Hospital Restaurant to manage an established team of chefs and to lead on developments of food offers in our restaurant areas.

Job Overview:

You will be managing all operational aspects of the catering service in the restaurant on a day-to-day basis including the distribution of all food cooked and provided. You will be maintaining a high standard of hygiene and cleanliness, accountable for COSHH, Food Safety, H&S, legal regulations, environmental policies and duty of care to customer and colleagues.

On a day-to-day basis you will plan, organise, and control the busy catering operations ensuring a successful and efficient service is always provided.

Undertake the operational management of all Food Service Areas: Courtyard Restaurant, Caf Glades, Crossroads, PGMC and Hospitality Functions

You will work 37.5 hours per week, five days out of seven days between 6:00am - 6:00pm

About you:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about good food and customer service with an enthusiastic, proactive and "hands on" approach.

You will have satisfactory food safety & H&S knowledge and should be able to demonstrate good leadership skills.

Main duties of the job

To support and assist the Assistant Hotel Services Manager - Catering in the provision of a highly professional catering service to all catering areas within Wexham Park Hospital.

The day-to-day operational management, responsible for food service to staff and visitors. To ensure a high quality, cost effective and resourceful service delivery, including restaurant service, some fresh cook patient services where identified and catering functions for staff and visitors, at Wexham Park Hospital

To develop and improve service to all customers through quality initiatives in a friendly and efficient customer care service, which would maximise income generation including menu writing and cost analysis for all fresh cook areas in the hospital and function work

Managing a brigade of chefs, kitchen porters and kitchen assistants

Responsible for all aspects of HACCP (Hazard Analysis of Critical Control Points), to include hygiene and cleanliness checks in area of responsibility in accordance with the Food Safety Act 1990, The Food Hygiene (England) Regulations 2006, Regulation (EU) 2073/2005 and Regulation (EU) 852/2004 on the hygiene of foodstuffs. The EU Food Information for Consumers Regulation (EU FIC) 12/2014 - UK Food Information Regulations 2014 (FIR)
