Job summary

We are currently looking for a Pensions Adviser to work within the pensions team in the production of high quality, timely and accurate pension information for Trust employees and the NHS Pensions Agency. You will assist the Pensions Manager in managing the pension service for the Trust, to provide a comprehensive, effective and efficient service. You will have extensive knowledge of all aspects of the NHS Pension Scheme and NEST Pension scheme. For accurate record keeping, you will ensure the system administration processes and quality control systems are maintained at all times. You will also work alongside your pension and payroll team colleagues to ensure that a full end-to-end pension process is completed for all Trust employees who are pension scheme members. You will be responsible for training the Pensions Administrator.The ideal candidate will have a payroll and pensions qualification or relevant demonstrable experience. It is essential that you have good computer skills with previous experience of using the NHS Pensions Online and Electronic Staff Record (ESR) Oracle system. You should have a background in NHS Pensions and a working knowledge of NHS Terms and Conditions of employment would also be advantageous.

The successful candidate will need to possess a strong customer service ethic and the ability to deal confidently and professionally with queries from Trust employees regarding their pension.

Main duties of the job

Accurate and timely delivery of pension services ensuring that pensions data is processed in accordance with strict deadlines, statutory requirements and organisation policies and procedures.

Processing retirements ie. Age, Voluntary Early Retirement, Ill Health, Redundancy and Death in service, on time and in accordance with NHS & NEST pension scheme regulations and local procedures, liaising with staff members and HR as necessary.

Provision of pension estimates to Trust staff on written request.

To perform day to day administration and maintenance of pensions records and to investigate and correct all discrepancies in member's pension records.

The post holder will be required to deal with complex enquiries and offer guidance on NHS Pension Scheme as a specialised subject, and have the skills to work independently and as part of a Team.

To work with the Pensions Manager to strategize and implement practices and procedures to enhance the service.

Investigating and resolving complex pension problems and to provide guidance to other team members on some of the more complex queries.
