Job summary

We are looking for two enthusiastic and committed Consultant Intensivists to join the team of Consultants in the Intensive Care Unit, which is part of the Directorate of Anaesthesia, Theatres and Critical Care. The unit has received the rating of Outstanding by the Care Quality Commission.

These posts have risen following retirement of consultant with responsibilities in Critical Care Medicine and Anaesthetics and service expansion.

The successful candidates will join the team of intensive care consultants to cover the intensive Care Unit at Wexham Park Hospital. We offer full time ICM Consultant post or ICM job with additional sessions in Anaesthetics. We are also keen to support candidates with other areas of special interest (Acute Medicine, Emergency Medicine, and Respiratory Medicine) and encourage them to contact the department for further discussion.

We are keen to foster individual interests within Intensive Care Medicine, including research and quality improvement ambitions and will encourage continued development within a job planning review and appraisal.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Full GMC registration
  • Appropriate Royal College membership (FRCA, DICM, EDICM, FFICM)
  • CCT (or equivalent) for Anaesthesia, ICM, Acute Internal Medicine or Emergency Medicine, or within six months of anticipated CCT
  • Entry on Specialist Register or within 6 months of confirmed award of CCT

Desirable

  • Membership ESICM
  • Membership ICS
  • Formal teaching or instructing qualification
  • Joint accreditation in Intensive Care Medicine and Anaesthesia/or related speciality

Relevant Experience in Specialty

Essential

  • Broad general experience in Intensive Care and related speciality
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Ability to take full independent responsibility for critically ill patients
  • Evidence of participation in training & supervision of trainees

Desirable

  • Demonstrable experience in ECHO
  • Published research in peer review journals
  • Evidence of presentations at meetings of learned societies

Management & Admin Experience

  • Participation in Clinical Audit

Desirable

  • Participation in departmental management in previous posts.
