A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join the Directorate for General Surgery and Urology for Frimley Health working at Wexham Park Hospital in a Service Manager (SM) role.
The role works closely with our clinical and administrative teams within our surgical specialties to co ordinate and facilitate the smooth running of the services.
We are looking for a proactive and forward thinking candidate, who has an excellent track-record, combined with the commitment and leadership skills to support delivery of an ambitious and exciting vision for our directorate.
Main duties of the job
Service development and delivery
To support the operations manager in developing service development plans / business plans to align national direction/strategies and local priorities.
Financial management
- To track budgets of agreed delegated responsibility to enable monthly variance reporting.
- To put in the place proactive steps to ensure that control measures are in place.
- To ensure that all income is appropriately assigned to the correct specialty in line with the national tariff.
Human resources management
To manage administration and support staff employed within services included within the remit of the role.
- To manage timely and effective recruitment and retention of staff in conjunction with the HR department.
General management
- Ensure that there are effective administration processes in place to ensure that patient access to services is optimised.
- Ensure that there are effective mechanisms for communication of the business processes to all staff under the remit of the role.
- Support the delivery of access targets within the service through effective management of consultant leave and capacity & demand management in line with the Trust consultant leave policy.
- Take proactive steps as requested by operations manager if there is any deviation from the delivery of the access targets.

The post holder will provide a highly visible and credible presence across the directorate. They will ensure that high standards of patient care and communication are provided to all patients.
The post holder will ensure that:
- All patients are treated with dignity and respect
- The patient experience is optimised through an efficient and effective service that encompasses the national and Trust agenda.
- All staff work and will use best practice in infection control and prevention.
- Develop services to meet the Trusts service and operational objectives
- Be responsible for delivering directorate inpatient and outpatient waiting list targets
The post holder will be responsible in ensuring that resources are used effectively and efficiently and work with the staff, leading and coaching them to maximise their potential in support of their future career options.
The post holder in conjunction with the operations manager and head of nursing will ensure that patient safety is maintained to the highest level.
The post holder will deputise for the operations manager as required.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
