Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Assistant Hotel Services Manager to manage the Housekeeping cleaning services to Wexham park Hospital . You will manage a large team of over 145 wte that provide cleaning services 24/7 across the Trust. We are looking for someone who is passionate about providing excellent standards of service, has an "eye for detail", and is keen to develop and support the existing team. You should ideally have experience in the hospital environment and be aware of infection control standards and expectations of different service users and be able to provide a flexible service to meet these needs. Good communication skills are a must.

Main duties of the job

To ensure the efficient operational management and supervision of the Housekeeping Services for Wexham Park Hospital. This includes all Residential Accommodation, All Hotel Services for private patients, wards and departments as well as the PGMC, and Theatres. To ensure that all cleaning, deep cleaning and periodic work is scheduled and carried out to the NHS standards required. To ensure the service is customer focussed, flexible and all quality standards are met. Continually develop the service to meet changing requirements of the Trust. Ensure that the services are Audited to National Cleaning Standards. Management of smaller contracts related to the cleaning services ie window cleaning, pest control & linen.

TEAM MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for the planning of efficient and cost-effective use of staffing hours.
  • Responsible for the delegation of duties to Supervisors and Housekeepers to ensure 24 hour, 7 days a week sufficient cover to meet the service requirements.
  • Responsible for the recruitment and retention of staff within Trust guidelines.
  • To conduct staff appraisal interviews, giving constructive feedback, identifying training needs and setting objectives including Learning and Development training as appropriate with each member of staff in line with Trust guidelines.

  • Responsible for maintaining records for all members of staff
  • Responsible for monitoring f sickness levels and referring staff as appropriate to Occupational Health.

OPERATIONAL MANAGEMENT

  • Ensure that the service is provided at the agreed levels, and that quality standards are maintained.
  • In conjunction with the General Manager Facilities formulates policies, procedures and working practices, and ensures implementation.
  • Maintain records of compliments and complaints, investigating /resolving complaints in a timely manner.
  • Develop cleaning practises and initiatives to ensure the provision of a cost effective and quality service that is proactive to meeting the requirements of the Trust.
  • Meet with Departmental Heads, Nursing staff and other stakeholders to ensure that agreed services levels are to the agreed standard.
  • Be aware of all new developments in cleaning materials, machinery, planning and recommending changes that will improve the service.
  • Responsible for COSHH assessments, risk assessments and audits and work practises on new products and tasks are undertaken, and ensure that all records are regularly updated.
