Job summary
The Parkside Inpatient Ward at Heatherwood is a modern purpose-built Private Patient unit whichcomprises of10 en-suite single roomsthat are light and airy. The Private inpatient ward will be for elective surgical patients only, especially for Orthopaedics/Surgical/Gynae and is situated on the 3rd floor of new build.

Main duties of the job
The Care Assistant at this level will work in support of the Registered Nurse and is competent to work unsupervised in all tasks as detailed below. Responsibility for delegating such tasks remains with the Registered Nurse:
- To enable patients to maintain their personal hygiene and appearance by
- Assisting patients with bathing, dressing, oral hygiene, bed-making. etc
- Enabling/facilitating patients to meet their own hygiene needs
- Contribute to the movement and comfort of patients by:
- Incouraging and assisting patients in mobilization
- Assisting with the movement of patients, for which instruction has been given, taking into consideration patient comfort and safety
- Using equipment, for which instruction has been given, to mobilize/move patients
- Assisting patients
- Support Nursing and Medical Staff
- Sort all incoming post and blood reports for each team
- If necessary, take charts to and collect drugs from Pharmacy
- Photocopying as requested
- Maintain a safe environment
- Keep nurse base and seating area clean and tidy
- Ensure papers and magazines are kept tidy
- Report any unsafe practices promptly to the Ward Manager/ Senior Nurse.
- Any other tasks commensurate with your grade.

Income generated by our private patient suites is reinvested directly back into the NHScare we provide.
