Job summary
The Plaster Room at Frimley Park Hospital is currently seeking a highly motivated individual to join our busy and dynamic team as a Band 3 Plaster Room Assistant /Trainee Technician Plaster.
We provide services across three sites under the Frimley Health umbrella. This role will be mainly based at our Frimley Park site; however, some cross site working may occur at our other two hospitals. We ensure delivery of a comprehensive Trauma and Orthopaedic casting and splinting service for the Fracture Clinic, Emergency Department, Theatres and Wards.
The role is interesting and varied and will include an in-house training programme for the ideal candidate. You should have casting skills and have completed the British Casting Certificate Course (B.C.C).
This is a fulltime post, with hours worked across Monday to Friday. You should have experience of working within a healthcare setting. You must be physically fit as this is a very physically demanding role, with prolonged periods of standing and supporting of patient limbs. You should be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills in order to communicate effectively and appropriately with our diverse range of patients, relatives and staff.

Main duties of the job
- The Plaster Room Assistant /Trainee Technician is a vital member of the healthcare team. Providing a service, not just in Orthopaedics and Trauma, but also Trust-wide across many different specialties. In a similar way to Orthotists, Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists, they interpret prescriptions from a wider multidisciplinary team, being able to discuss issues of care with other relevant Healthcare Professionals.
- Technicians assess, plan, implement and evaluate care episodes under the direct supervision of the Senior Practitioner.
- To contribute towards the effective running of the Plaster Room by performing a range of non-clinical tasks as required.
