Job summary
An exciting opportunity to join the Skin Cancer nursing team at Frimley Health NHS Trust. This is a role for an experienced nurse to further their career, become a clinical expert and key member of the Skin Cancer MDT. The post is full time band 6 with a view to progress to band 7 on completion of relevant (MSc level 7) training. Development is gained through a Masters degree programme of study, being supported in clinical practice and on competency being achieved in all skills required for the role. The post holder will be expected to work in outpatient clinics 5 days a week working in parallel with the Skin Cancer Multidisciplinary team.
There will bean emphasis on development of the nurse led service throughout the pathway of care for the skin cancer patient: providing highly specialist expertise and knowledge in the diagnosis and management of patients' through autonomous practice indermatological and physical assessment,dermoscopy, lesion assessment and surgical minor procedures. Working with the MDT to improve the survivorship element of the cancer care pathway, striving toimprove cancer patients' care, support and experience through the 'Working with the MDT to improve the survivorship element of the cancer care pathway, striving to improve skin cancer patients' care, support and experience through Personalised Care and further development of the Supported Self Management programme.'
Main duties of the job
The post-holder will act as a keyworker for a defined skin cancer patient portfolio at Frimley Health Foundation Trust. Key to the role is developing skills to provide highly specialist expertise and knowledge in the diagnosis and management of patients with potential skin cancer requiring investigation, treatment and surveillance following National and NICE guidelines.
The post holder will ensure the highest standard of clinical care is provided. They will be easily identifiable to clients and users, provide leadership and have the appropriate level of authority to provide support, advice and assistance required by patients, their families and carers. Emphasis on the areas of patient/client safety, patient experience, user engagement and clinical outcomes will be essential.
