Job summary
We have an exciting opportunity to join Berkshire and Surrey Pathology Services (BSPS) as a Training Officer with the Blood Sciences department at our Frimley Park and Wexham Park Sites.
BSPS is undergoing a large automation rollout of new analysers across all sites, installing state of the art equipment. FPH and WPH are hub laboratories and will offer the most expansive array of analysers.
The applicant must be HCPC registered and have expansive knowledge of Blood Sciences practices. They must be able to inspire and nurture talent within the team and promote active learning to all involved in an inclusive way.
Main duties of the job
BSPS believe in career progression, and as such regularly promote from within from B2 MLAs to BMSs and beyond. Training support is key to this. A training officers main duties will be:
- Mentorship of all team members doing registration and specialist portfolios
- Regular meetings with trainees
- Reporting to Site leads of progress
- Submission and support for HCPC and IBMS applications
- Monitoring of progress via matrices, reportable at monthly meetings

Essential
- HCPC state registration
- Extensive professional knowledge gained through either MSc, FIBMS or at least 5 years experience in an appropriate biomedical laboratory post qualification
- Evidence of further education including CPD
Professional/Specialist/Functinal Experience
Essential
- Extensive professional knowledge of the appropriate discipline and clinical practice
- Extensive overall knowledge of analytical procedures
- At least 5 years experience in an appropriate biomedical laboratory
- Sound understanding of relevant National legislation and guidelines
Special Requirements

- Bending, and lifting of boxes up to 20 kg. Waste disposal within laboratory health and safety regulations. Pushing trolleys of samples/reagents
- Daily exposure to, and smell of, contained/uncontained infectious materials, body fluids and biological samples
