Are you a newly qualified speech and language therapist who is looking to gain experience in the acute sector?
We can offer you a supportive team environment for your first job and comprehensive dysphagia training to enable you to achieve your competencies. There are senior therapists on hand for support on a daily basis.
Main duties of the job
The role will involve assessment, diagnosis and management of the communication and swallowing disorders of inpatients (often with neurological aetiologies). There is also the opportunity to provide rehab on our acute stroke unit.
You will join a very friendly team of speech and language therapists over 3 hospital sites. Core hours are Monday to Friday. We are committed to supporting your CPD and as a department we have regular team meetings and clinical discussion forums as well as strong links with community teams. After a year of postgraduate practice you will have the opportunity to attend the relevant training and then support students from the University of Reading on clinical placement.
