We are looking to appoint consultants in anaesthetics with an interest in:

The jobs are full-time posts comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). 7.5PA will be dedicated to anaesthetic sessions. 1 PA is allocated to recognised on call commitment. The remaining 1.5PA will be allocated to supporting professional activities (SPA).
Main duties of the job
The Job Plan will be a prospective agreement between the appointee and the chief of service, that sets out a consultant's duties, responsibilities and objectives for the coming year. It covers all aspects of a consultant's professional practice including clinical work, teaching, research, education and managerial responsibilities. It provides a clear schedule of commitments, both internal and external. In addition, it includes personal objectives, including details of links to wider service objectives, and details of support required by the consultant to fulfil the job plan and the objectives. Changes having budgetary or contractual implications would also need the agreement of the chief executive.
One half day per month is dedicated to audit and teaching during which time all routine work is suspended. All staff are expected to attend except for those providing emergency care cover and those on leave. The directorate meeting is also held at this time. It is assumed that every member of the department will play a full part in formal and informal teaching of medical and other staff, and this is recognized as part of Supporting Professional Activities (SPA).
