Job summary
Our Children's directorate are looking for a dynamic, innovative and suitably experienced Head of Nursing to lead them in to the future. Overseeing the nursing care of Babies, Children & Young People will be the key focus of your role, where they are cared for in our neonatal units, children's wards, outpatients & ambulatory care and community environments. You will also be a key professional link for any CYP within the Trust through our Children & Young People's Board.
You will oversee the transformation of our workforce, working with ICS colleagues, HEI providers and our own education team to introduce and build upon programmes already in place. You will support and guide our established Matron team to maintain high quality care and continue to drive the safe delivery of care in all of our environments.
You will also have a keen focus on patient experience, co-production of services with our young people, and driving changes that a patients and family focussed to the core.
Main duties of the job
The Head of Nursing for Paediatrics will be professionally, operationally and managerially responsible for nursing in the directorates of paediatrics and neonates and professionally responsible for the nursing in paediatric ED cross site
PURPOSE OF JOB:- To be responsible for leading and advancing clinical practice across the whole Trust
- To provide highly visible clinical leadership to the nursing and support staff
- To establish and deliver a vision for children and young people's future care across the whole organisation, and to continuously develop this
- To ensure that quality of care is delivered to the highest possible standards
- To ensure that the highest possible standards of infection control and cleanliness exist in all areas
- To lead on transformation, innovation and change programmes as part of national, network and Trust wide programmes and inspire clinical staff engagement in these
- To provide support, guidance, development to all staff
- To ensure effective communication exists with consultant staff
- To lead on clinical governance and quality for the relevant clinical areas
- To support the directorates in achieving key national targets
- To deputise for the Associate Director when required
