Job summary
This is a full time post funded by the Education Directorate at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. It is an excellent opportunity for doctors with an interest in simulation, education and leadership to have dedicated time to develop these skills, whilst also maintaining clinical duties. The ratio of clinical to non-clinical work is 40:60.
Main duties of the job
Non-clinical time will be spent supporting the Simulation Programme within Medical Education. You will be part of the Simulation Team and involved in all aspects of Simulation for all grades of our multi-professional colleagues.
Clinical time can be spent in a specialty of your choice.
Whilst the non-clinical role is cross-site the clinical component will be based on one site.
There will be the opportunity to undertake a PGCert as part of the role.
You will be allocated a mentor for the role and will work closely with the Consultant Simulation Lead for the Trust as well as the Simulation Team and will need to develop working relationships with other key Education Team members such as the Leads for SRTT/FT & LEDs/IMGs.

RESPONSIBILITIES
In collaboration with the Trust Consultant Simulation Lead & the Simulation & TEL Teams the successful candidate will be involved in the following:
- Develop and lead simulation training for undergraduates from multiple medical schools working in conjunction with Clinical Teaching Fellows on both sites
- Support the Simulation programme for FY1 and FY2s
- Work closely with the Trusts Fellow for SRTT/FT/LEDs to support Simulation sessions for those returning to the NHS after a period of absence or joining the NHS for the first time including but not limited to the following:
- With colleagues arrange a program in order to refresh general professional capabilities
- professional, leadership and team-working skills
- Specialty-specific skills
- Decision-making
- Responding to generic and specialty-specific emergencies
- Address person specific attributes such as:
- Procedural competence fade
- Self-confidence and self-perception in ones clinical abilities
- Adjusting to new circumstances
- Knowledge gaps resulting from time out of practice (e.g. clinical protocol, policies and procedures)
- Be a key player in delivering the novel induction process for incoming FY1s SIMley Park & WexSIM Park
- Work closely with colleagues in Clinical Education to ensure that simulation sessions are multi-professional to enhance learners experience where appropriate
- Become proficient in the Simulation process including identifying need, developing scenarios, preparing sessions, delivering simulation, leading debriefs and following up on lessons learnt
- Attend local education and training meetings to identify where Simulation need is
- Assist with feedback and findings from the GMC Survey
- The successful candidate will have the opportunity to undertake a PGCert should they wish to.
