Job summary
Frimley Park Hospital Anaesthetic Department seeks a motivated anaesthetist with an interest in simulation. Previous experience in simulation is not necessary as the Fellowship will provide the opportunity to learn about simulation and being part of a simulation team. Frimley Park has a dedicated simulation suite with attached debriefing/lecture room with capacity for live viewing. We have a Laerdal SimMan Essential wireless advanced patient simulator, a Laerdal SimJunior, Laerdal SimBaby, Gaumard Victoria Obstetric Manikin, Gaumard Tory Paediatric manikin, and many part task trainers.
The post is for 6-12 months commencing February 2022 based at Frimley Park Hospital.
Main duties of the job
The Fellow will further develop the anaesthetic simulation training programme for all levels of anaesthetists. In addition, the Fellow will lead in situ simulation sessions for the multidisciplinary team, embedding simulated clinical experience into everyday work. There are opportunities to teach regularly on Medical Student, FY1 and FY2 sessions in the simulation suite. The Fellow will develop experience in utilisation of the equipment, creating clinical scenarios, observing non-technical skills, and effective debriefing. The Fellow will be supported by a Consultant mentor and the QuEST (Quality Education through Simulation and Technology) staff.

Our Obstetric Unit has 5500 deliveries per year for which the Anaesthetic Department provides 24h cover. The intensive care unit at Frimley Park Hospital comprises of nine level 3 beds and three Level 2 beds. In addition, there is a Surgical Acute Dependency Unit and a Medical Acute Dependency Unit. A Consultant-led Critical Care Outreach service supports the increasing demand for level 2 and 3 admissions within the Trust.
