Job summary

This role is Band 6-7 progressive role or Band 7, depending on level of experience.

As exciting opportunity has arisen in our well established Dietetic team within Wexham Park Hospital.

We are looking for an experienced Dietitian, with evidence of post-graduate paediatric qualifications, excellent communication skills and advanced Dietetic skills. This full-time Band 6/7 post will give you the opportunity to take the leading role in the advanced assessment, treatment and management of children with diabetes within well-established multi-disciplinary teams.

Main duties of the job

Other responsibilities will include involvement in the pre-registration training of dietitians and you will play an active part in this. We also have a training commitment to other healthcare professionals which will provide the opportunity to develop excellent teaching and presentation skills.

Job responsibilities

PURPOSE OF JOB:

  • To take the leading role in the advanced assessment, treatment and management of children with diabetes within inpatients and outpatients.
  • To undertake evidence based projects, including recommendations for changes in practice and to develop research and audit in this clinical area
  • To act as a specialist resource for the Paediatric Diabetes multi-disciplinary team and Dietitians within Frimley Health Foundation Trust
  • To provide an effective high quality service within the diabetes speciality and take a lead role in supporting and teaching other FHFT department Dietitians as required.
  • To contribute to continued development, efficiency and safety of dietetic department
  • To be flexible in times of increased capacity to the service, and provide general paediatric cover during times of annual leave and sickness.
KEY TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES: Clinical
  • To provide dietetic service to the paediatric diabetes service at Wexham Park Hospital (in and outpatients) and provide specialist paediatric services to paediatric and neonatal wards in times of cover
  • To act as a specialist resource for the diabetes multi-disciplinary team and Dietitians across the Frimley Health Foundation Trust
  • To keep up to date with clinical developments, analysing current research and discussing and implementing changes in clinical practise
  • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your professional activities, working within codes of practice and professional guidelines
  • To demonstrate a sound understanding of clinical governance and clinical risk and to demonstrate evidence based practice
