Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Respiratory Physiotherapist to join the West Sussex COPD (Worthing) team . This role involves delivery of a pulmonary rehabilitation programme across four sites in West Sussex.
The COPD Team is a multi-disciplinary team and provides holistic assessment and treatments to COPD patients in both the community and outpatient setting including Oxygen Assessments and Pulmonary Rehabilitation. As a part of the COPD team, you will be working collaboratively with a range of health and social care teams across primary, Secondary, community and voluntary organisations to provide excellent care for patients diagnosed with long term respiratory conditions.
Main duties of the job
To triage incoming referrals according to the referral criteria and correspond to the referrers in case of requiring further information.
To lead on planning and delivering the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme within the Team. Providing Ambulatory oxygen assessments, Airway clearance and breathing retraining for patients with respiratory conditions.
Using specialist skills for assessing the physical and psycho-social needs of people with COPD, initiating the appropriate therapeutic care plans and treatment.
To achieve the effective daily management of a caseload, prioritising clinical work and balancing other related and professional activities in accordance with departmental standards.
Identify and participate in opportunities and cross-professional training and organisation of service to patients / carers.
To maintain Continuous Professional Development (CPD) and incorporate into your work including active participation in the supervision process.
Supervising members of staff as appropriate and facilitating their development and performance.

To work as part of the MDT to plan with the person and carer, the goals and treatment plans and working with other professionals to achieve these.This will include participating in meetings and case conferences in response to the needs of the individual.
Utilising excellent verbal and non-verbal communication skills with patients, relatives, carers and members of the MDT to ensure that a high standard of patient centred care is achieved and that patients and carers have a good understanding of their individual care plan.
To use relevant policies, protocols and care pathways based on current evidence-based guidelines.
To be competent and have an understanding of relevant clinical guidance, clinical management and to be able to effectively complete Ambulatory oxygen assessment and prescription.
To lead the running of the Pulmonary Rehabilitation Programme within the Team, including assessment and completion of appropriate outcome measures.
Ensuring accidents, incidents or complaints arising in the team are reported and recorded following agreed procedures.
